THE PA MEMORIAL SEVENS TOURNAMENT

This year we were very pleased to be with everyone at the Paul-André (P-A) Blundell Memorial Sevens Tournament again held at Keynsham Rugby Football Club on Sunday 3rd May 2009. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Trust PA to help fund the progress towards clinical trials for the repair of spinal cord injury paralysis.

We were very lucky again with the weather dry and fairly sunny but with a chilly breeze. Thanks go to Simon Postlethwaite who did another splendid job despite some dynamic issues during the day. Simon is a fellow rugby player friend of P-A's who did an excellent job for us. Our grateful thanks also go to the officials of KRFC for allowing this event to be staged at their club and to everyone who attended to make it another memorable family day for everyone. Thanks to the referees who gave their time and expertise to keep everyone in order throughout the tournament, well done. Thanks to all the teams who came and made the event an exciting and tough competition of skill and fitness which we all enjoyed. We were pleased to see many families and friends of the club and teams supporting the day, thank you all.

Twelve teams competed for both the Memorial Cup & Plate every winning team member receiving a personal medal in recognition of their success. The team winning the Cup was Old Swinford Hospital (OSH) from the West Midlands and the runners up was Kingswood well done on a well fought challenge throughout.

Congratulations to the Plate winners Keynsham who always do well and runners up Berkswell & Balsall congratulations for well deserved success.
We were especially pleased to see OSH compete at this event as this was P-A and Steve's (his brother) school prior to attending Uni. There was a wonderful family party atmosphere and plenty of interest for the whole family including; BBQ, bar, music and entertainment with disco into the evening which was enjoyed by all.

Teams competing this year included:
Kingwood
Keynsham
Old Swinford Hospital (OSH)
Exeter Iniversity
Berkswell & Balsall
Tiggers All Stars
Team Disney
Newport High School Old Boys (NSHOB)
Dixonians
