The TRUST PA Charity Golf Tournament 2008

This year the Trust PA Charity Golf Tournament was held on the parkland championship course at St Mellons Golf Club on the outskirts of Cardiff.

Teams of four players competed for a range of quality prizes in another exciting and enjoyable Stapleford rules best two scores, challenge round of golf.

The day kicked off at around 11.30am with team registration and putting practice which aided along by delicious bacon rolls and coffee or tea. Teams were ready to tee of between noon and 14.30pm. To add another dimension to the fun we held a nearest the pin on the 14^th and longest drive competition on the 18^th hole.  Unfortunately the club failed to put out the markers!! So the prizes were added to the Raffle which Huw suggested gave his players a better chance of winning!

The tournament was followed by a very tasty hot buffet dinner in the dining room and the merit prizes were later awarded to the winning first, second and third teams from 19.30pm.

First Team was Noi Ramasute - The Thai House Team, who each won a set of six 24oz Crystal Wine Glasses with a bottle of wine, Second team was Veronica Twamley Inc each winning a boxed set Italian Wine Glasses, with third prize going to Jonathan Miall's Spinal Research Team each winning a pair of Denby Wine Goblets. Jonathan also won the ball sweep.

We were pleased to have a raffle and short auction of quality donated items to help raise important funds to continue, the vital clinical trials for the repair of spinal cord injury paralysis. Everyone had a good day and competition was very keen amongst the players to win.

We were pleased to have Huw Llywelyn Davies as our celebrity host and auctioneer for the event who kindly distributed the merit prizes.  We are also appreciate the support of all the competing teams and players on the day, thank you.

We are also pleased to again thank St Mellons Golf Club and their Club Manager Michael Wake and Club Professional Barry Thomas for their kind assistance with this event.

Finally, our thanks to the club caterers Louise and Dominic for excellent service again this year and to all our helpers on the day Jan, Sonya, Frith and Patrick without their valuable help it would not have been possible to run the event, thank you from Trust PA.
