TRUST PA CHARITY BALL 2008

Ball pictures available bottom of the page

On Saturday 22nd November 2008 at Cardiff's Hilton Hotel we were pleased to hold our latest splendid Trust PA Celebration Charity Ball.  Our guests arrived well attired in black tie and evening dress ready to experience another evening of scintillating fun. The fun started with a drinks reception where guests mingled meeting friends and viewing the lists of prizes for the raffle, Silent & Live Auctions while starting to consider place their bids or having their photo taken by our event photographer Philip Edwards of Studio 87. Guests were summoned to take their seats by our accomplished Host and Auctioneer Mr Willie Thorne who introduced the evening and a brief charity review was shared by Trustee Stephen Blundell.

A key point of the evening at this stage was our annual major public donation to help fund the process of converting and testing ground breaking laboratory science into real treatments for the repair of spinal cord injury paralysis. The cheque was gratefully received on behalf of Spinal Research by CEO Mr Jonathan Miall.  A delicious three course meal followed which was expertly rounded off in a most entertaining manner by Willie Thorne who did a splendid job and bidding was brisk for the excellent range of unique and valuable items on offer.

An unexpected highlight for us all was the attendance of actor Matthew Rhys (series Brothers & Sisters & film The Edge of Love) our Charity Patron who flew in at short notice from California to be with us at the ball. Matthew gave a short presentation highlighting his link with Trust PA and specially P-A his friend Paul-André. He mingled with guests signing autographs and chatting with guests and friends. We were also pleased to have with us leading and pioneering British Scientist, Professor Geoffrey Raisman who shared a short poignant speech, regarding his ground breaking work.

The raffle was drawn by our guest Mrs Jill Thorne (Willie's wife) and the prizes were distributed to the winners. The evening then continued into the small hours dancing to our entertaining and professional live band Souled Out.
Everyone had a great time.
